“On behalf of the staff and Board of Directors of the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association we would like to thank you for a superb event. As presenting Sponsor, we were very proud of the look, feel, design, execution and attendance at the event. We find it amazing and heartening that a first year event would garner national focus by the press.
The day was so memorable, and I will always have the image in my mind of five miles of kayaks gliding across glassy Lake Tahoe on that beautiful fall morning, over 200 people running down North Lake Blvd with their paddles in hand on their way to the Mountain Bike transition, and seeing my first ropes course challenge. Breathtaking!
Thank you for your professionalism and dedication to a first class event. We look forward to working with you on the 2008 Tahoe Big Blue Adventure Race.”
Special Event Manager
North Lake Tahoe Resort Association
Dear Big Blue, I just wanted to say how much fun I had yesterday participating in the Burton Creek Half. It was my first Big Blue Adventure Event and I am very impressed: really well marked trails (the best I’ve seen in a trail event), very well organized overall, super friendly staff, great staging area, loved the awards (happy to take home a 2nd place etched glass in my AG – thank you!) loved the race shirt, and that we get to download a photo at no cost (great perk) – and I just thoroughly enjoyed it all. Thank you for all the great work 🙂 I will definitely take part in more Big Blue Adventure events.
“Big Blue Adventure puts on one of the most challenging and beautiful triathlons I have ever been a part of. I have raced all over the country and have never raced such an amazing course as the Lake Tahoe Triathlon. Todd and his staff put on a top notch event. This race should be added to every triathletes do to list!
“Just wanted to say thanks to you and your crew for such a great event in Oakridge. It is not very often that we get treated to such great technical riding and a truly fun course. We appreciate all your staffs’ efforts to make these races possible. Please pass along our thanks to all your staff.
Hopefully we will see you again, soon.”
Dan Weiland – Team Nike/Beaver Creek
“I wanted to say thanks and what a great venue you put on this year up in Tahoe for the adventure race. We had a great time and are looking forward to next year’s race. I’m a triathlete by nature, but this was my first race where it was just flat out fun (even with the wacky cold weather). I’ve never done an adventure race before and now I’m hooked. I’d like to get into the individual side or perhaps team 12 hour competitive races with the orienteering. I’ve only been on a mountain bike 5 times in my life, but am now looking into purchasing one! So, thanks to a job well done!”
Have a great winter season.
“Just a quick note to thank you for putting on a great XTERRA point series race up in Tahoe. I hope this race continues for YEARS to come. Everyone I talked to had a fun time. The water could have been warmer but I think there’s only so much you can do!! We’d love to come up to Tahoe for another race during the season. Just tell us when!
Thanks again for all of your hard work and planning! We’ll be back in!
XTERRA Age Group Champion
“The race was fantastic! You definitely need to make sure the weather is just like it for all your races. If I could just learn to swim I would really improve my time. I am a complete Off-road triathlon novice but as far as suggestions go, it would be nice if the descent of the run was on dirt instead of on the road. If you were to add another northern California race I would certainly be interested.”
Thanks for a great day!
“My friends and I raced the Xterra Tahoe City this past weekend and had a great time, and just wanted to let you know the event was flawless and we will definitely be back next year – the raffle was amazing, and we all received new pairs of shoes!”
Thanks again for a great event!
“The Tahoe Big Blue Adventure Race was a terrific event! It was both carefully organized and systematically executed. Perhaps most importantly, the staff was very enthusiastic and helpful. Also, the welcoming party and the festive atmosphere at the finish were really a nice touch. I think it’s important to have a celebration at the end of an event like this because it gives people a chance to socialize. There are lots of interesting people in adventure racing, and providing the opportunity to get them together helps strengthen the community. Thank You!

“I just wanted to follow up with you after the weekend and thank you for putting on a fantastic event. I think it was challenging for everyone and provided the best of what AR has to offer. One thing that really impressed me was that all the CP’s were exactly where they should have been and the locations were spectacular. Even though we did have a tough time with a couple of them it wasn’t due to the placing. Glow sticks might have helped but so would have more accurate navigation on our part. Everything came together and for a very well organized event. Please pass on out thanks to your team and all of your volunteers.”
“I just wanted to tell you that I had a BLAST in the sprint! It was my first adventure race, and you made it such a positive experience for first-timers that I’m sure that many more including myself will be lining up do compete in more. The pictures online turned out great, the organization of the event was superb, and the barbeque at the end was the icing on the cake. I’ll be looking forward to more of your outstanding competitions in the future.”
“I thought the race was amazingly well organized for a first time race, it was an awesome course, and the swag ( mostly Sportif) was the best I’ve ever received in a race. Congratulations!”

“Thanks to you and your staff for an “adventure” I won’t soon forget. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I was especially appreciative of the medical expertise present on-site.”
Larry Fitch, Participant
“Thanks so much for putting on an excellent festival!!! You raised the watermark for whitewater kayak events. I was honored to be a competitor. Thank you and I look forward to next year”
Tanya Shuman, Professional Kayaker
“I just wanted to say thanks and congrats on a great event. All of the athletes were stoked and I know that the kayaking industry in general is thankful for this event. Also what a great thing for Reno. It would have been hard to believe a year ago that this event would have gone so well and been such a great success. Hats off to you all!”
Jay Kincaid, Professional Kayaker, World Champion
“I just wanted to let everyone know what a great job you guys did. I have been to around fifty kayaking events from small local events to the Worlds to televised events with large cash purses. I can say with experience that the Reno River Festival was by far the best kayaking event that I have ever seen.
Kudos to the Reno locals who made it happen and to 7th Wave for putting it on.”
Andy Bedingfield, 2X World Champion
“After 20 years of being in the business, of all the events that he’s attended including the Olympics, the Reno River Festival is the most impressive, most professionally produced kayaking event that he has ever attended. He applauds all parties involved in bringing the Reno River Festival into fruition and congratulates the City of Reno. He had a fabulous weekend!”
Keith Miller, owner of California Canoe and Kayak
“Thank you for all your hard work and great organization. Andy and I both were amazed at what a professional and well organized event you guys put on. We truly enjoyed being part of it. Hope to see you again soon!”
