Kristin Walstad
Kristin Walstad, Big Blue Adventure Ambassador:
I have enjoyed running for many years. I recall as a child asking my mother to go for a run with me, just for fun! I participated in many sports during my school years, including basketball, volleyball, and track. I began running longer distances in my later 20’s and ran my first marathon in 2000. Since that time, I have completed 18 marathons with a PR of 2:57 at Boston. I competed in many road races when living in Michigan with a PR in the 5k of 17:58, 10 mile of 1:01, half marathon of 1:20, and 25k of 1:36. Since moving to California in 2007, I discovered a new passion, running on trails, particularly uphill! I won the Tahoe Marathon in 2013 and have won multiple trail races in the Big Blue Adventure Tahoe Trail Running Series and races to the stop of Squaw, Northstar, and Vail. In the winter months, I continue to run but also love to telemark ski. When I am not playing outdoors, I work as a physical therapist for the Tahoe Sports and Performance Center in Truckee. I am honored and excited to be an ambassador for Big Blue Adventure and hope to inspire others to participate in their events.
